Humans live in underground cities because of radiation, pollution, a virus epidemic, global warming and ozone depletion. Alpha X-1 human clones are bred to go topside and search for survivors and a cure for the virus. However, with no memories of their own, the clones die after six days. Dr. Xenon, the leader of Omega City and the genetic donor for all Alpha X-1s, hopes the electronic transmission of photographic images directly into an experimental clone's cerebral cortex is the answer.
