"The country through which we pass today is much the same as that described of yesterday." The Journals of Lewis & Clark In 1803 the USA was confined to the Atlantic coast. The West was an unmapped land through which no white man had traveled. The American President ordered Captains Lewis & Clark to command a force up the Missouri, to map out these lands, and to promise the native inhabitants the protection of The United States who would bring them freedom, peace, friendship, and wealth. 200 years later, a group of enthusiastic patriots, retired soldiers, and proud descendants of the original unit are re-enacting each day of that four year voyage, bringing them face to face with descendants of the natives promised so much.
