Wildflowers is an affectionate parable of despair, love, redemption, light bulbs and ants. Two characters, one ancient, and one as young as youth itself, discover that it's the little things that can make all the difference. He paints, with old crooked fingers, trying to achieve a tragic end. She brings light into his dark world, and with it, life, in the truest sense of the word. For life has lost its colour for the Old Man, and he means to end it as soon as he finishes his last painting; his own memorial, to be left behind for a woman already dead. It is a ritual that has repeated itself many times in the past; she saves his life by letting the outside world stream in through the dusty windows of his painting study, blistering across the room, clawing its way into the dark corners and to his newly finished painting.
