After driving for a couple of hours in the morning sun, a driver and his wife stop at a small village in the South of France. The shade of trees, the water of the fountain refresh them. For a while, they feel wonderfully well, fulfilled, as if time had stopped. The only witness to their happiness is a cat : the houses seem to be alive but without anybody inside. After a while, the cat can't be seen anymore. It must be hiding in some place protected from the sun. Well, in spite of everything, the couple must go again. Just after driving off, the husband notices a small shock. He knows he has run over the cat.
